New Thatched Cottage
Edingthorpe is situated in rural Norfolk, close to the wide sandy beaches of Mundesley, Walcott and Bacton on the north east Norfolk coast and within half an hour of the waterways of the Norfolk Broads - the perfect rural localtion to get away from it all. The village is part of the 'quiet lanes' scheme - a network of country lanes with very lttle road traffic - so is ideal for walking and cycling and safe for children. This beautiful part of Norfolk is renowned for its 'big' skies and and open landscapes.

The area has many nearby attractions - the Edwardian seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham are a short drive away offering golf (Cromer Links) and the famous 'Poppy Line' and Bure Valley steam railways. North Norfolk has much to offer in the way of nature reserves, country houses and gardens, museums, craft centres and galleries. The Norfolk broads - a network of lakes and rivers are within 10 miles, offering day boats for hire and pleasure trips for all the family. The cathedral city of Norwich is just 25 miles away and is the county town of Norfolk - with wonderful architecture, quality shops and lots of interesting sights to visit.

The cottage has three floors. On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen and a living/dining room with an inglenook fireplace, exposed beams and wood-burner, making it very cosy in the winter months. Upstairs on the first floor is a bathroom with 'over the bath' shower and a bedroom with 2 single beds. On the top floor is the master bedroom - with a double bed, built into the eves of the thatched roof. There are exposed beams, wooden floors, leaded windows and traditional ledge and braced doors - it is just like like stepping back in time as you climb the narrow staircases, but with just the right amount of mod-cons to make this a perfect Norfolk holiday cottage. The cottage has new kitchen equipment (cooker, microwave, crockery and cutlery) and new beds, mattresses and bedding for 2006.

Outside there are gardens to the front and rear with lawns, fruit trees and plenty of space for al-fresco dining - you may have to share some of your dinner with the resident pheasant though!

What's included:
Heating, logs for wood burner, electricity and bed linen. Please bring your own towels.

Directions from Norwich: Take the ring road to the north of Norwich and take the North Walsham Road (B1150) to North Walsham. As you approach North Walsham (approx 15 miles), go under the railway bridge and turn left at the traffic lights towards Mundesley on the A149. Go over the next set of lights - keep heading towards Mundesley. After 1 mile or so, turn right – signposted 'Byway to Edingthorpe 2.5 miles’. Turn right at the next T-junction and then take the next left into Crow Road - there's no proper signpost for Edingthorpe and it’s easy to miss this turning. If you end up in North Walsham Town centre, you have missed the turning. Go over the next junction - this is the Bacton Road – signposted Edingthorpe. Keep going for about 2 miles. You'll see a village green signpost for Edingthorpe on your left.

Change over day is Saturday - short breaks are welcome.
