The Royal Forest of Dean is a walker’s paradise; it covers over 110 square kilometres of woodland and lies between the rivers Wye and Severn, in the western part of Gloucestershire, on the borders of Wales and Herefordshire. The Forest of Dean is not only renowned as an area of particularly outstanding natural beauty where the scenery changes with the seasons, but also stands out as a place which provides year round interest for visitors.

There is so much to see and do in the Forest of Dean! The natural landscape lends itself to a great variety of outdoor activities. There is ample opportunities for walking, cycling, canoeing, diving and even exploring caves and caverns up to 100ft under ground. For those wishing to "Go Ape" there is a high wire forest adventure course with rope bridges, high wires, Tarzan swings up to 35ft above the forest floor. There are also a whole host of family attractions - museums, mines and steam trains - something for everyone. If you are feeling adventurous you can even go on a llama or camel trek.

There is year round interest for visitors to the Forest of Dean and Lypiatt House is a fabulous place to base your holiday. Set on a hillside in the heart of the Forest there are wonderful views of the area, a mature secluded garden, the luxury of a 6-seater hot tub and spacious accommodation for up to 9 people.

Detached and set on the hillside in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean, this Grade II cottage is a wonderful retreat surrounded by mature gardens on various levels from which to absorb the glorious views which are far reaching and take in the River Severn.

The cottage has three double bedrooms (one en-suite), one single bedroom and the beautiful galleried room has a double sofa bed which can be used as another bedroom if required. The living room features comfy sofas, a wide screen TV with DVD and video. The sitting room features the original flagstones and further entertainment (TV, DVD, video, stereo). There is dining for nine in the dining room which boasts an inglenook fireplace, beams and flagstone floors. The kitchen is fully equipped with a range cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. It is beautifully presented under a vaulted ceiling. The utility room has an additional fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a large shower room. The kitchen door opens onto the garden.

In the gardens you will discover a 6-seater hot tub from which to enjoy the magnificent views at any time of day or night and the barn which houses the pool table and darts board. The gardens are maintained by local gardeners who have watched the gardens develop over the years. During spring and summer the gardens literally bloom with thousands of flowers. There are fruit trees including a banana tree, plums, pears, apples and cherries and in winter the gardens are a winter wonderland especially in the snow.

What's included:
Bed linen and towels are included in the rental price and also heating and logs for the fire. Well behaved pets are considered at no extra cost.

Lypiatt House is situated near Lydney in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The village of Blakeney is on the A48 between Chepstow and Gloucester. Once in the village, the cottage is on Blakeney Hill Road.

Change over day is Friday - short breaks are available.
