Wordsworth Cottage, Grade II listed and formerly part of the estate once owned by Wordsworth’s grandfather, is an imaginatively designed barn conversion tastefully incorporating original and introduced features. Light, warm and comfortable, it is situated in the peaceful village of Sockbridge and occupies a pleasant position with the benefit of open outlooks to both front and rear. There are several walks to be enjoyed across the fields and along the river directly from the cottage. Nearby, across a quiet no-through road, is a children’s play area. The local 17th-century pub, serving highly recommended food, is only a short walk. Conveniently positioned, 3 miles away, is the market town of Penrith with its variety of shopping and leisure facilities.

Near Penrith, the family attraction of Rheged is great for all ages, comprising indoor and outdoor play areas, craft activities, a 3D cinema, art exhibitions, restaurant and gift and toy shops. There are swimming pools at Penrith and Keswick and, during the summer months, an open-air pool at nearby Askham.
The cottage is ideally situated for exploring both the northern and southern lakes and fells. Situated just 2½ miles from the beautiful scenery of Ullswater, you can enjoy a trip around the lake on a steamer and visit the impressive waterfall at Aira Force. A spectacular journey along the shores of Ullswater and over the Kirkstone Pass takes you to Lake Windermere. At the head of Derwentwater and 15 miles from Sockbridge, lies the town of Keswick with its lovely parks and selection of coffee, gift and outdoor shops. Shops 2 miles.
