Extra Amenities

Surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, with an abundance of cottage garden plants and roses, giving the cottage its name. Rose Cottage offers comfortable accommodation, in a great rural location, that is close to the popular seaside town of Southport, just 4 miles away. Ideal for families and couples, this detached single-storey bungalow benefits from off road parking and well-stocked gardens, to the front and rear. The owners, who live next door, have taken great care to ensure that the accommodation has all the comforts one needs for a great stay. Rose Cottage has a private enclosed garden to the rear, which with its lawned area and patio, is perfect for alfresco dining in the summer. There is a fantastic conservatory with lots of comfy seating from which to enjoy the garden on cooler days and a welcoming open fire in the lounge for those colder months.
Rose Cottage is located in the village of Scarisbrick, which is just less than 4 miles away from the Victorian seaside resort of Southport. The popular village of Birkdale, which offers several bars and restaurants, and a number of independent retailers, is just over 3 miles away.

For a wider range of amenities why not try the market town of Ormskirk, which has a twice weekly market as well as a park, swimming pool and leisure centre. For guests who enjoy being pampered, there is a local hair and beauty spa just 100 yards away from Rose cottage which offers a 20% discount to guests.
Close to the Leeds/Liverpool Canal there are lots of pleasant walks in the area. Scarisbrick Marina, which has a café and car park, is 1½ miles away and Burscough Wharf, which offers a variety of shops and places to eat, is 5 miles away. At Lathom, 6½ miles away, you can hire bikes from the lovely country pub there, which serves good food and which also has a canalside beer garden. You can enjoy cycling as a pleasant alternative to walking along the tow paths, with plenty of other country pubs along the way for a stop off. Golf is a very popular activity in this part of the country and there are several golf courses in the area, including the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, which is only 4 miles away.

Horse racing enthusiasts may enjoy a visit to Aintree Racecourse which is home of the famous Grand National, 11½ miles away.
The area is also popular with nature lovers and birdwatchers, as the garden at Rose Cottage attracts many birds, including owls, thrushes and woodpeckers. Enjoy a visit to Martin Mere Wetland Centre, just 6 miles away, or the National Trust’s Red Squirrel Reserve at Formby, 9 miles.
Of course, no visit to the area would be complete without a visit to Southport, which has a reputation for being one of the more relaxed and traditional coastal towns. Southport’s many attractions include the pier, sandy beach, Splash World indoor waterpark, funfair, cinema, theatres and bowling, as well as plenty of bars, restaurants, cafés and shops. The town hosts many events throughout the year, making Southport a year round destination. Shop 2 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant ¾ mile
