Sky Cottage is in the heart of the picturesque riverside village of Golant on the South coast of Cornwall. The area is known as the Cornish Riviera due to its mild climate and this lovely cottage is perfectly positioned for touring the whole of Cornwall. Only 45 minutes away is Padstow, on the Camel Estuary, and less than 10 minutes drive away is the fantastic Eden project, with its breaktaking gardens and cutting edge architecture. The Georgian resort of Charlestown, and the charming fishing village of Mevagissey are 20 minutes away. Fowey is 10 minute drive or reachable by a 45 minute walk along the river and over the hills.

There are numerous activities within easy reach of this cosy cottage - Cornwall makes a superb walking holiday along coastal paths and you can also explore the countryside by car, on horseback or on bicycle on the numerous cycle tracks. You're never far from water in Cornwall - and watersports range from surfing, sailing, and windsurfing or you may prefer to sunbathe on the breathtaking choice of beaches - Par Sands is only 3 miles away from Sky Cottage. There are frequent boat trips on the Fowey Estuary, or you can explore this beautiful river by canoe or kayak with tours that are tailored to your ability.

The towns of Fowey, Losthwithiel and the Cathedral City of Truro are a short drive from Sky Cottage and it is conveniently placed for the picturesque fishing villages of Port Isaac, location of TV series 'Doc Martin'. The popular St Ives with its famous Tate Gallery is also a lovely day trip. Aside from the Eden Project there are many gardens and stately homes that are well worth a visit, such as the stunning Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the National Trust property at Lanhyrdock.

For eating out, Cornwall has quality restaurants in abundance - most local villages are serving fresh local produce to accompany your Cornish ale, and it also has its share of Michelin Star venues.

Accommodation:

Sky Cottage is in the heart of the tiny village of Golant by Fowey. Renovated to a high standard, this cosy retreat welcomes you through the oak stable door into the open plan living room. Beautifully furnished with Andrew Martin Tulip blue curtains and comfy leather sofa and chair, a large wool rug on the solid oak floor and a cosy wood-burning stove, you can enjoy this snug seasidey haven at any time of year. The lounge is equipped with TV and DVD/CD player and a small selection of DVDs, perfect for a romantic evening in front of the wood-burner, glass of wine in one hand and popcorn in the other!

Steep winding stairs lead from the kitchen area to the gorgeous upstairs bedroom where a comfortable 5 feet Queen sized cast iron 'gothic' bedstead ensures a great night's sleep. The bedroom has an original wooden floor and is furnished with rugs, a chest of drawers and an area to hang clothes. For those early nights or long lie-ins, there is a TV, video. Out of the bedroom window, there is a lovely view over the village rooftops to the Fowey River and surrounding valley. Guests are welcome to bring a travel cot for babies under 12 months if they don't mind a bit of a squeeze.

Also upstairs, the shower room with original wooden floor is large and equipped with full-length mirror, heated towel rail and fan heater for extra winter warmth. Douse yourself under the wonderful shower after a stress-free day of sunbathing, walking, shopping, sight-seeing or chilling in the local hostelries!

At the front of the house a lovely small patio garden is equipped with a coffee table, chairs and a bench. This area catches the sun's rays from early morning to late afternoon so it is perfect for guests to use from breakfast to BBQ, or simply as a place to sit with a drink and watch the world go by.

Please note the cottage is not suitable for those who have trouble with the stairs or for young children over 12 months. Parking is currently available in a neighbouring driveway.

Directions:
A30 from Exeter off at Bodmin, follow roads to Fowey, left to Golant.

What's included:
Heating, electricity and logs for the fire are all included in the rental price. All bed linen and towels are provided. Sorry, no pets are allowed in the cottage. There is parking space for one car.

Change over day is Saturday and guests are asked to check out by 10am, and check in after 3pm.

Weekly rentals £285 (low season) to £568 (high season). Weekend and short breaks available October - May on request.
