The village is well preserved, with many original houses, an imposing church, Post Office, restaurant, village shop and Internet café. Only 100 metres from the cottage is the Longs Arms pub, a former coaching inn serving homemade food and local ales. The lovely large pub garden makes it easy to while away a balmy evening with a drink and a meal after a day spent visiting Wiltshire's many attractions.

The cottage has access to open countryside for beautiful scenery and walks in this area of outstanding natural beauty. It is a splendid base for exploring - just 15 miles from the beautiful Georgian city of Bath where hot springs, Roman Baths, and Georgian stone crescents have attracted visitors for centuries, and less than 30 miles from Salisbury's renowned Cathedral that houses Britain's tallest spire. The region's most iconic attraction, the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge is 30 minutes away and the giant White Horse at Uffington is around an hour's drive. A few less well known National Trust properties and glorious gardens are also well worth a visit - the stately home at Bowood has a spa and delightful grounds where horseriding and golf are on offer.

Wiltshire has an abundance of activities for all the family to enjoy: Longleat Safari Park, house and gardens are only 20 minutes from this Wiltshire self-catering cottage. The park also has a bat cave and giant maze which children of all ages will love. There's horseriding within half an hour of Coachman's Cottage at Wellow.
