The tourist attractions of Madame Tussauds and the Planetarium are also within easy reach - the list of things to do in London with children is endless.

London is home to top art galleries, international exhibitions, opera and ballet. The South Bank, a lively area fronting the River Thames, is home to the Tate Modern. While the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, are all a short walk from each other. In fact many of London's famous landmarks are within a square mile and are easily reached from this central self-catering apartment.

London can be done on a budget, particularly if you are self-catering in well-equipped accommodation such as this. There are lots of free things to do: the historic parks are perfect for people watching and picnicing. Hyde Park - a green oasis with boating lake, and St James's Park with its amazing pelicans, are easily accessible from this London apartment. Regents Park, with its impressive zoo, is also only a few tube stops away.

If you tire of the capital, there are a great many days out around London too. It is an easy day trip to the sea - an hour to the resort of Brighton with its amazing Royal Pavillion, bohemian Lanes quarter, and charming pebble beach. Historic Hastings with its quaint streets and cliffs, and Battle Abbey - where the Battle of Hastings took place are around 90 minutes by train. And Hampton Court, Richmond Park and Greenwich are all beautiful riverside attractions that you can get to by a boat on the Thames, passing under famous bridges as you go.
