How about a holiday cottage in Blackpool, Britain's favourite seaside resort? Imagine those sea views, family friendly attractions and sparkling entertainment. A self-catering cottage in Blackpool will give you the opportunity to explore this lively destination at your own pace.

Blackpool trams provide an easy way of getting along the seafront. On a busy summers day they can carry over 120,000 people. If you prefer to walk, you can take in a growing range of sculptures and works of art on the New South Promenade. These include the musical high-tide organ. This part of the Blackpool Promenade also boasts the world's largest dance hall mirror ball, measuring 20 feet across.

The Sea Life centre is at the heart of Blackpool's famous golden mile. It is home to a large collection of tropical sharks and has over 50 displays of marine and freshwater creatures including piranhas, rays and seahorses. There's a new UV-enhanced jellyfish display and a walk through the 180 degree aqua tunnel will bring you face to face with sharks measuring up to 8 feet in length.

Louis Tussaud's Waxworks exhibition is one of Blackpool's oldest attractions, dating back to 1900. A visit to the current display will find you mingling with A-list celebrities and spotting familiar faces as you stroll down Coronation Street. If you're feeling brave you can enter the Chamber of Horrors to meet some of history's most terrifying murderers and villains.

There are more frightening thrills and spills at the Pirate-themed Coral Island, where the Terror Train awaits. The Parrot Flyer monorail will take you on a gentler ride through this family entertainment centre. At Blackpool's Sandcastle waterworld there are white knuckle water chutes and a giant Typhoon Lagoon. The tropical climate is complete with palm trees and a 'Caribbean Storm Treehouse'. Watch out for the waves and the Hystrostorm, which tips gallons of water onto bathers every few minutes! Blackpool Tower is one of Britain's most recognisable sights. You can buy an all-inclusive ticket to visit the Tower and multi-award winning Tower Circus at the same time. You can listen to traditional big band music and enjoy afternoon tea in the spectacular ball room. Younger children will love Jungle Jim's; the UK's largest indoor adventure playground. A trip to the top of the Blackpool tower will take you 380 feet up to be greeted by spectacular views.

Don't think that Blackpool is just for summer-fun. As the colder nights draw in the seafront is transformed by the famous Blackpool Illuminations. Six miles of magical glinting lights extend the holiday season into November every year. You can also take in a wealth of lively nightspots; seafront bars, clubs, pubs and shows.

If you're in need of a quiet break from all the razzmatazz then why not take a stroll through leafy Stanley Park, a horticultural treasure bursting with wildlife. Golfers will be treated to an extensive golf course, or you can try a spot of crown green bowling. The nearby Model Village and Gardens is a real mini marvel.

Blackpool is easily accessible by road and rail, and there are now regular flights from London Stansted. As well as lots of holiday houses to rent in Blackpool, there are also lots of guest houses, bed and breakfasts and campsites - whatever type of Blackpool holiday accommodation you are searching for then there is a great selection here.
