Holiday cottages in South Yorkshire

View our full range of holiday cottages in Yorkshire.

In the south of Yorkshire the largest city is Sheffield, renowned for hundreds of years throughout the world for the stamp of 'Sheffield Steel' on the best cutlery. This industry has declined but the money generated was invested in some ostentatious civic buildings, and fine monuments. The cultural revival of the city is spearheaded by the Millennium Galleries which has various displays covering the history of the steel and metalworking in and around Sheffield, contemporary art exhibitions, and an eclectic collection inspired by the Victorian philosopher and critic, John Ruskin. Just across the road are the brand new Winter Gardens, a stunning addition to the town centre, with an ambitious glass roof covering an extensive collection of exotic plants, and the tourist information desk. For the best selection of pubs and restaurants head towards the university campus and you can find anything from a curry to springbok steak.

To the west of Sheffield it is only a short journey to the edge of the Peak District National Park and some superb walking country. Renting a holiday cottage in the Peak District is a perfect way to explore the area. The area around Bradfield is known as Little Switzerland, and this isolated area offers plenty of hiking, for both young and old alike, and there is a secluded dog-friendly inn for you to recharge your batteries in front of a coal fire.
