An ideal venue for extended families and friends wanting to holiday together. Tucked away in peaceful countryside, surrounded by its own lawn gardens, this 500 year old, period detached farmhouse is ideal for larger families and friends wanting to spend time together. The formal beamed dining room with a wood burner and large table allows the whole party to celebrate and dine together in style. Sumptuous Abbey Farm is a beautifully renovated house that offers comfort and luxury in equal measure whilst maintaining the original listed features. There are two wood burners for those cooler evenings and a stunning, mature garden for those warm evenings, just waiting for you to sit in and enjoy the surrounding countryside. There is a curved staircase and a steep narrow staircase within the property and therefore unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Centrally positioned on the Norfolk/Suffolk border with an easy road network to explore the delights both counties have to offer. For guests seeking food or drinks away from the home, a popular wedding venue hotel is just over a mile away, with bar and restaurant which serves good food. There is also an outside play area to keep the younger children entertained.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast is only 25 miles away, where you can visit Southwold with its famous pier, Aldeburgh for its abundance of great food and restaurants, and Lowestoft, the most easterly point in the UK. Places of interest nearby include Banham Zoo, Bressingham Steam and Gardens, which is the official home of The Dads’ Army Appreciation Society, Oasis Camel Park, Framlingham Castle and the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary.
If a drive isn’t in your plans, you can put on your boots and explore on foot. A network of country lanes, and a circular footpath walk, are located just few minutes from your doorstep, allowing you to enjoy the open countryside away from the road, or simply take a stroll by the local parish church. Another particular favourite is the 12 miles of footpaths through the Thornham Estate, an ancient parkland, with woodland and farmland, as well as a Victorian walled garden. With many walks and cycle trails available close by you will be spoilt for choice. Yaxley Lake is just 2½ miles away and is heavily stocked with common and mirror carp, tench and crucian carp (at cost, no licence required). Beach 29 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 1½ mile
Spoilt for choice - chalet or family beach holiday house? East of England is UK at its best. You will find cottages that are pet friendly in Suffolk coast, South Suffolk or Mid Suffolk - some have Christmas specials.
