Just five miles from Diss, a bustling ancient Norfolk market town close to the Suffolk border in the delightful Waveney Valley area of South Norfolk, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind while still being close to all the action.
The town is packed with beautiful historic churches, a variety of lovely independent shops and most remembered for its wonderful mere at the centre of the town with a glorious fountain located in the middle. Here you will find lots of great places to eat and shop. You can also fish and play a round of golf here too.
Close by lies the medieval city of Norwich with its cathedral, castle, museum, galleries, cinemas, theatre and excellent shopping. Beautiful Bury St Edmunds, with its famous abbey, is approximately half an hours’ drive away.
For a day at the coast head to the quaint seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Outdoor lovers, walkers and cycling enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Thetford Forest, whilst bird watchers and nature lovers can explore Redgrave and Lopham Fen Nature Reserve and RSPB Minsmere. Bressingham Steam and the famous gardens of Alan and Adrain Bloom are well worth a visit too, as are the Norfolk Broads, which while further afield, are a Norfolk must see. And, after a busy day, what a joy to return to the Little House on the Common for a good night’s sleep. Shop ½ mile.
