There are many dune backed sandy beaches within a short drive, including Sea Palling located 6 miles away. For lively family fun make sure you visit Great Yarmouth, with its famous pleasure beach and amusements, and Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park at Lowestoft. Seaside resorts of Cromer and Sheringham offer wide sandy beaches and a host of attractions. Cromer boasts a pier, a carnival week in August and, weather-permitting, a spectacular New Year’s Day celebration complete with fireworks.
Sheringham is home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway, Splash Leisure and Fitness Centre, and the National Trust’s Sheringham Park. Numerous bird sanctuaries, salt marshes and wildlife centres punctuate the region, and popular National Trust nature and bird reserves, Blakeney and Morston, offer boat trips to visit the basking seals. Museums, craft centres and the National Trust’s Blickling Hall are all within an easy drive, as is the medieval city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedral, castle, museum, cinemas, bowling alleys, theatre and excellent shopping with two indoor shopping malls. River fishing (licence required) is available on local waters in Womack Staithe, 1 mile away. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
