The first thing you will see when you take the long, winding driveway is the stunning remains of the Pentney Abbey Gate House, which is set in the heart of beautiful countryside. This medieval site has been lovingly restored, and has a picture perfect exterior providing a warm welcome to your relaxing break. Set in 35 acres of private grounds, which include a licensed wedding venue, a medieval banqueting hall and fishing rights over a stretch of the river Nar, these three properties, The Farmhouse (ref UK31588) along with semi-detached Fig Tree Cottage (ref UKC1175) and Walnut Cottage (ref UKC1176) all provide the perfect base for discerning guests to explore the beautiful county of Royal Norfolk.
Those wishing to explore on foot will make good use of the grounds, which are great for walks and watching wildlife. There are numerous stately homes and National Trust sites within easy reach, including The Sandringham Estate, Peckover House and Gardens, Holkham Hall and The Blickling Estate. It is also worth making time for a visit to the medieval city of Norwich, with its splendid Norman castle, numerous museums and lots of opportunities to shop and eat.
The Hanseatic Quarter of Old King’s Lynn offers lots of attractions, including ghost walks. Beach lovers can be at the gateway to the breath-taking Norfolk coast in less than half an hour. Take a drive east and discover a string of pretty coastal villages, marshes and beaches. Here, you will also find artisan shops and lots of places to eat, many of them selling fresh, local produce.
