Extra Amenities

Hall Farm Cottages are an idyllic retreat constructed from a barn conversion in the mid 2000s and are located in the village of Althorne. With stunning views of the River Crouch or the local vineyards, it’s a prime location for walks in the 9 hectares of woodland along the River Crouch, which is home to an abundance of wildlife.

This barn conversion now comprises three terraced cottages, and the owner, who lives on-site, is on hand should you need advice or assistance during your stay. Mistletoe (ref UK11002) is a ground floor cottage with an open plan living space. There are two large, light and airy bedrooms for a good night’s sleep after a day sightseeing in the beautiful Essex countryside. Periwinkle (ref UK11004) is a first floor cottage with a spacious open plan living space, two double bedrooms and a small shower room with toilet. Ivy (ref UK11005) is another ground floor property with a spacious, light, open plan, living space and two bedrooms along with a shower room.

Burnham-on-Crouch, 3¾ miles away, is home to the saltmarsh coast, 75 miles of picturesque wilderness and tidal estuaries interspersed with historic villages and towns. Hidden in the corner of Essex but only 40 miles from London, there is so much to discover throughout Essex’s dynamic and diverse coastline. From wildlife reserves to iconic sailing barges and modern watersports, there is plenty to see in the district. Maldon, famous for its food producers Maldon Salt and Tiptree Jams, can be found just 8 miles from the cottages. Maldon has plenty to offer, no matter what the weather. Visit a museum, explore the heritage, take a trip aboard a historic Thames sailing barge, learn to dinghy sail or paddle board. You could always hire a beach hut and let the kids enjoy the Splash Park in the award-winning Promenade Park whilst the tide comes in.

The family-run farm surrounds the cottages and each unit has its own unique view of the River Crouch and surrounding countryside.

It is a prime location for walks by the River Crouch in the 9 hectares of woodland, planted in 2002, home to an abundance of wildlife. Along the sea-wall you will be kept entertained by sailing boats going up and down the river. Crouch Ridge Vineyard is also part of the farm with wine tasting and tours available on request.

RHS Hyde Hall is open all year except Christmas Day and can be found less than 10 miles away with plenty to see and do from the meandering paths leading you through Rose Garden and Mediterranean Dry Garden, and there is plenty for the kids too with a woodland walk and bird hide, and play areas. Beach 22½ miles. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 2 miles.

These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guest
