Whinstone Barn Cottage
4 bedrooms, sleeps 6
Nestled in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside, Whinstone Barn is ideally placed to explore this stunning area.
Whinstone Barn is located less than 5 miles inland from the picturesque coastal village of Bamburgh and 1 mile west of Belford. This attached barn conversion is situated next to the owner’s home, on the eastern side of the A1 giving excellent access to this highly sought after region of North Northumberland. The accommodation is well presented and can comfortably sleep six people, conveniently in four bedrooms. The patio doors in the living room enhances its bright and airy ambience and where a wood burner offers a cosy welcome whatever the season.
Bamburgh is dominated by its dramatic castle and wide expanse of golden, sandy beach. Belford is often described as ’the Gateway to the Secret Kingdom’ and offers many facilities including shops, a tea room, pubs and an impressive golf driving range, all within a mile of Whinstone Barn.
The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills just 13 miles west; a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse-riding and walking – the challenging route of the ‘St Cuthbert’s Way’ runs close by. The A1 is close by giving easy access to the elegant Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed to the north, and the cobbled, market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle to the south - both offering a wide array of amenities and are equidistant at 15 miles away.
Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to see the Grand Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! Take a trip to the vibrant cities of Newcastle upon Tyne or Edinburgh; both are only an hour’s drive or enjoy the journey by train from Berwick-upon-Tweed or Alnmouth.
Whinstone Barn provides an excellent base from which to explore the North Northumbrian countryside to the west, along with the Heritage coastline designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east, and the Scottish Borders north. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mil
