This charming old shepherd’s cottage, its gardens sloping down to a trout stream, has an idyllic rural setting with lovely views over open fields and is only 15 minutes’ drive from the coast. One of a pair, the holiday cottage offers a very comfortable base for exploring Northumberland’s superb Border country. The golden sands of a 2-mile dune-edged beach sweep south from the tiny harbour of Beadnell (5 miles), still used by busy east coast fishing cobles. Seahouses offers wonderful boat trips to the Farne Islands, that wildlife paradise. There are castles of many periods within the Northumberland National Park. Magnificent Bamburgh (7 miles), Holy Island an easy drive. Shops 4 miles.
