On the first floor, there is a spacious living room with plenty of windows overlooking the bustling high street of Fore Bondgate. The kitchen is traditional and well-equipped, with contemporary appliances. A long corridor leads to a quirky twin bedroom, a family bathroom, and a single bedroom at the rear of the apartment. On the second floor there is a double bedroom with kingsize bed. Stairs lead up to the third floor which boasts a super double bedroom, full of original features and decoration. The Old Assembly Rooms is certainly a quirky choice of accommodation, and really does feel welcoming, warm, and comfortable with its home from home familiarity.

Conveniently located for the town centre shops, and sitting directly above a café, which is open daily from 8am, the Old Assembly Rooms offers the perfect location for guests wanting to explore the local area.

A bustling town with a variety of shops, Bishop Auckland has much to offer. The town has a good mix of restaurants, cafes, shops, pubs and historic buildings. Bishop Auckland Castle, Deer House and Park, is only a short walk away and offers events all year round, and is certainly worth a visit. The Town Hall boasts a 210 seater theatre, art gallery, library and café and is open all year round. The shows incorporate a full size lake with pyrotechnics, stunning lighting and water effects, making it a true spectacle in every sense of the world!

Kynren, a spectacular open-air live show taking you on a journey through 2,000 years of history, is held every Summer and is less than a mile away.

Known as the Gateway to Weardale and perfect for families, friends, walkers and cyclists, Bishop Auckland is surrounded by walking paths, cycle routes and trails that cross through the area, and into the heart of County Durham. Only a 15-minute drive away, guests will also be able to explore the popular area of Hamsterley Forest, which is a fabulous 2,000 hectare oasis alongside a sheltered valley. Guests really need a full day to explore and enjoy the forest, watch the wildlife, walk the Gruffalo Trail, and cycle along the woodland trails. It is also perfectly located for a day trip into the city of Durham, Barnard Castle, Staindrop, The Durham Dales, The Yorkshire Dales, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Gateshead for the Metrocentre.
