The modern furnishings in the living room are beautiful and it opens up onto a lovely dining room, perfect for enjoying a relaxing meal after visiting the many attractions in and around the area.
Consett sits high on the edge of the Pennines on the banks of the River Derwent, where you will find many excellent restaurants, shops and pubs only a matter of minutes from Elm Cottage.
A must is a stroll through Consett Park and a visit to the Lodge Heritage Centre. Discover more about the historic Consett Steelworks and other such places at the Land of Oak and Iron heritage centre. There are many paths throughout the landscaped grounds and woodland for you to walk whilst admiring the many sculptures. Derwent Reservoir is also a beautiful walk with lovely views and for the younger ones there is a fantastic wooden playpark.
Elm Cottage is the perfect base for you to enjoy touring around the county. A must is a visit to Beamish, 10 miles away, the world famous open air museum telling the story of life in the North East of England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s.
It truly is an amazing experience.
For those wanting to further enjoy a spot of history and culture, the cathedral city of Durham offers plenty of attractions at all times of the year. The Lumiere Festival held in November every other year is a must see! For everything under one roof – shopping, dining and leisure the famous Metro Centre at Newcastle is for you.
