Extra Amenities

Completed in 2019, Dairy Cottage is a barn conversion set along side Coxhoe Woods and Nature Reserve. Dairy Cottage has a cosy log burner for those cooler evenings. There is plenty of living space in the large, beamed living room with a 42’’ TV, and a separate, spacious, kitchen/dining room. All on the ground floor and next to the owners home, Dairy Cottage is perfect for families, couples or friends and your four-legged friend. The cottage backs onto Coxhoe Quarry Woods, a local nature reserve, local wildlife site and is UK Woodland Assurance Scheme certified. Coxhoe Nature Reserve houses the ruins of Coxhoe Hall where the famed local poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning once lived.
The area is ideal for mountain bikers and walkers.

The pretty little town of Sedgefield is just 4 miles away with some lovely cafés, pubs and bespoke shops to browse. Durham city is only 7 miles away where you will find the cathedral, riverside, cobbled streets, shops and pubs. Dairy Cottage is an ideal retreat if you are visiting Durham University and want some relaxation outside of the city. The cottage has easy access to the road network which means exploring around Northumberland and County Durham is easy, and even Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast is only 50 miles for a day out. A trip to Beamish Open Air Museum, 17 miles, is a must, as is the Metro Centre, 21 miles, if you fancy some retail therapy. You may also like to take a trip to Bishop Auckland to see the epic tale of England at the annual event called Kynren.

This amazing spectacle spans 2000 years of history, myth and legend, starting at the end of June until mid September.
The beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of the North Pennines is only 20 miles distant with glorious scenery and countryside. Hadrian’s Wall, Keilder Water and Alnwick Castle are all easily accessible from the cottage. Ramside Hall Golf Course is 7 miles away, and a lovely beach at Crimdon Dene is 12 miles. Dairy Cottage is set next to a small holding just on the outskirts of the village, and a nice pub is less than a mile away. Beach 11½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
