The holiday cottage is perfectly located for walking the fells and Durham Dales with footpaths direct from the cottage and for cycling and horse riding along the disused railway tracks and nearby Hamsterley Forest. The historic city of Durham with its cathedral, castle and lovely riverside walks is only 10 miles away, while Barnard Castle (20 miles) is home to a 12th-century castle and Bowes Museum. Beamish Open Air Museum is an interesting day trip (14 miles). Golf and fishing can also be found nearby. Shop 1. 5 miles, pub serving food 500 yards.
