The property boasts a lovely wood burner set in an inglenook fireplace for those autumn and winter evenings. Only a short walk from the golf club (set of golf clubs available in the house), it is also just 350 yards to a nice Italian restaurant. Located in the centre of the village, just off the main street, Marine House is a perfect base to explore this diverse county. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is a friendly village with a cliff top golf course, sailing club and Maritime Heritage Centre. A family-run Italian ice cream parlour dating back to the 1950s is in the centre of the promenade next to the bandstand.
A glorious sandy beach is the backdrop for the sweeping bay, ideal for picnics and exploring the rock pools. Nearby Woodhorn Museum holds regular events, and there is coarse fishing available at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, complete with a large lake and swans.
The sweeping sands at Druridge Bay are only 3 miles, and here is the start of the Heritage Coastline Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with miles of golden sands and unspoilt little villages to explore. You can follow this road all the way up to Holy Island which makes a great road trip.
The historic town of Morpeth is only 9 miles with plenty of shops and pubs. The town of Amble, with a bustling Sunday market, is only 13 miles and offers a working harbour and cute little beach huts to hire. The city of Newcastle, with its vibrant night life, theatres, arts and shops, is only 18 miles, and a bus can be taken nearby straight into the centre of town. The Northumberland National Dark Sky Park is 53 miles away, making a great change from the coast, and you can explore the delights of Hadrian’s Wall all in easy driving distance.
