Extra Amenities

This quirky apartment is set in the historic Morpeth Court, a Grade II listed former courthouse and gaol, which is packed with character. A lift or stairs take you up to this unique apartment, which is only a few minutes walk into the centre of Morpeth, which is full of pubs, cafés and interesting shops. The building is located just opposite the award-winning Carlisle Park, which is situated on the River Wansbeck and offers beautiful gardens, picnic areas and ancient woodland.

The apartment itself is tastefully decorated throughout in a contemporary style, with homely comforts and plenty of space to relax in.

The large, feature electric fire and Smart TV is ideal for cosying up on a winters night. The open-plan living area features a wonderful, double size, Gothic style original window, part of the design built in 1821 and designed by John Dobson, a famous architect of the time. Used until 1980 as a court, the outside looks like a medieval castle. The court used to be the former county goal for Northumberland, and features the civic crest on the front above the large Tudor former entry way. The building features diamond paned windows and a gothic-style stairway.

Morpeth has easy access to a great road network, with the coast 15 minutes’ away and the A1 also close by. The train station is within walking distance where you can hop on a day return train ride to Newcastle, a splendid city well worth a visit. Or, take a train to Edinburgh or York for the day, straight from Morpeth on the east coast network. The large car park at the rear means you can leave your car behind without the worry of finding parking somewhere else
