On the ground floor there is ample space for guests to spread out and enjoy the comfort of a separate living room with an electric wood burner or the larger open plan living/dining room/kitchen. The semi-detached property has been newly renovated in 2018 to a good standard and marries traditional features with modern facilities. The kitchen offers plenty of quality appliances including dishwasher, washing machine, electric hob and electric oven. On the first floor is a family room with double bed and additional ¾ double bed that is ideal for a child, while the second bedroom offers a kingsize bed. Located just a five minute walk away from the centre of Stanhope, guests staying at Eastcroft Cottage will find themselves spoilt for choice for places to eat, drink and explore in this beautiful part of County Durham. Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Stanhope itself is a popular market town, known locally as ‘The Gateway to the Dales’. It has a bustling high street that is lined with a variety of local shops including a fish and chip shop, butchers and bakers. There are also numerous places to sit and enjoy a spot of lunch or dinner with a variety of pubs, cafés and tea rooms. Stanhope is surrounded by public footpaths, cycle routes and longer walks out towards some of the pretty, villages in Weardale, including Killhope and Rookhope.
A couple of popular walks head out towards Frosterley and Wolsingham where there is the opportunity to catch the Weardale train back to Stanhope. The Weardale Railway covers an 18 mile heritage line that travels through the countryside of County Durham and is a great way of seeing the area. A little further afield within a 40-minute drive, is the city of Durham with its historic cathedral, castle and university. The university campuses can be reached within a 45-minute drive making it ideal for visiting friends and family. Barnard castle, Beamish Living Museum, Gateshead MetroCentre, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Hexham, Corbridge and Hadrian’s Wall can all be reached in an hour’s drive and all offer a great day out at any time of year.
