If you love traditional beams and features you will enjoy staying at High Bishopley Cottage, just outside Frosterley, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Built in 1846 this detached cottage oozes character and charm with the most stunning views from most of the rooms, sweeping over the North Pennines. With original stone flag floors, beams in the original Weardale-styled ceiling, open fire and stove, this spacious property is perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The garden area offers the most breathtaking views across the moorland.
Set in a rural location, but only a few miles from the village and near to Stanhope with a wide range of facilities, including an open air heated pool.

The Weardale Railway follows the path of the River Wear and passes through beautiful scenery from Stanhope through to Bishop Auckland. The area is popular with cyclists and walkers with many walks from the door. Nature lovers will enjoy the wildlife found around this rural area. Frosterley and Stanhope have a good choice of pubs and cafés, and the property is only 1¼ miles to the nearest pub. The beautiful picture postcard village of Blanchland is only 13 miles away and is well worth a visit for the beauty of the village as well as the local inn.

Day trips can easily be enjoyed along the Roman wall, stopping off at Corbridge, a pretty and historic town. The cathedral city of Durham is only 19 miles away where a day can be spent along the river, browsing the shops and sampling the many wine bars and eateries in the city.
