Tulip Cottage
2 bedrooms, sleeps 4

With wonderful walking from the door, this semi-detached cottage is also well placed to visit the nearby railway museums.

Situated in the picturesque Weardale Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a UNESCO European and Global Geopark, Tulip Cottage offers fantastic views across some of the most scenic countryside that the county has to offer. Located high up on the hillside and surrounded by working farmland, this semi-detached holiday property is beautifully renovated and furnished to a very good standard, and is in a great location for exploring the area. It is ideal for guests who enjoy a walking or cycling holiday, and there are plenty of public footpaths and cycle paths that lead directly from the cottage through some of the most magnificent countryside and beyond, offering visitors views of hills, dales, waterfalls and much more.

There are also plenty of attractions within a close radius, which include Killhope Wheel, the Lead Mining Museum which is a favourite with families of all ages, Alston Railway with its steam locomotives, the National Railway Museum at Shildon and the Beamish Open Air Museum. During the festive season the Weardale Polar Express can be caught from Stanhope, 10 miles, hop aboard and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies - a fantastic way to really get into the festive spirit.

For guests wanting to travel a little further afield but still remain within an easy hour’s drive, the opportunities are vast. The cathedral city of Durham, with its castle and university, is only 27 miles away, whilst Cumbria and the Lake District can be visited within an hour’s drive, as can Northumberland, Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Alnwick and Hexham, a historical market town with an Abbey. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub ¼ mile
