Built around 1760, this charming, ancient farmhouse was once part of Lowfold Farm, nestling in a small cluster of older properties on the fringes of Ambleside, set half way between the village and the Lake on the original old road into Ambleside. Some excellent walking can be enjoyed straight from door, the footpath to Jenkins Crag and leading onto Wansfell being literally over the garden wall whilst the delights of this now rather cosmopolitan village are a level 5 minute stroll. An eclectic mix of restaurants serving international cuisine are on hand to tempt you throughout the day and into the evening whilst a good selection of interesting shops and outdoor outlets will ensure you have all the ingredients for supper and that you’re kitted out for all types of Lakeland weather!
Treacle Cottage retains its thick stone walls and a wealth of exposed original beams and is the perfect example of a traditional Lakeland property.
Fine fell views can be enjoyed from most of the rooms, particularly from the first floor, the tiered gardens to the rear a delight at any time of the year.
Treacle Cottage, set out over three floors, offers comfortable and flexible accommodation for the larger party. With two cosy lounge rooms and plenty of bathroom facilities, each couple or individual can be assured of a quiet space to take in some holiday reading or simply to sit on the deep window sills and take in the views towards Fairfield Horseshoe and Wansfell and plan your walks for the days ahead!
