Coupland Hall Cottage
3 bedrooms, sleeps 6
Coupland Hall is ideal for exploring the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the stunning northern Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Tucked away on the outskirts of Appleby, Coupland Hall is a delightful terraced cottage dating from the early 19th century and sitting in a cluster of cottages in Coupland Beck – an area named for the river that runs through it into the River Eden.
The accommodation is well presented and comfortably furnished and the character of the cottage is evident alongside contemporary facilities. A delightful dining kitchen, complete with Esse stove, is well-equipped and complimented by original features. Guests will find the cosy living room a relaxing spot after a days exploring with the wood burner ideal for cooler evenings. An additional snug offers families and friends that little extra space to utilise as required.
The pretty frontage of the cottage makes a cheery spot to capture sunny weather and a grassed area sits alongside the wooded riverside. A stretch of the original Mill Lade (the swift current which would have powered a mill wheel) runs through the mature woodland and the spot is natural and unspoilt. Guest may enjoy a stroll over the refurbished bridge to experience the great outdoors in this woodland glade.
Coupland Beck sits at the foot of the lane leading up to Appleby’s Brackenber Golf Club. Literally a few minutes away, the course is set on Brackenber Moor – a challenging and spectacular course known as ‘ Gleneagles in the raw’. This 18-hole course offers stunning views of the North Pennines, the Howgills and Lake District fells.
Coupland Hall sits just a short drive off the A66 offering guests easy access to both the Northern Lakes and Ullswater and the much loved Eden valley. The popular historic market town of Appleby offers an excellent mix of independent retailers, cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs, where the local ale can be enjoyed along with a taste of good local fare – ideal after a day on the golf course or exploring the local area. Coupland Hall offers guests an ideal base for discovering the local area, whether on foot or enjoying the many cycle routes the area enjoys. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
