Corner House dates back to the 1800s and is located in the pretty village of Torpenhow, in the Caldbeck Fells. Beautifully presented throughout, the light and airy living room centres around the feature fireplace with stone surround and wood burner. The sumptuous sofas are perfect to sit back and relax in, and the original oak beamed ceilings add to the character of the cottage. You can watch village life pass by through the dual aspect windows overlooking the village green and open farmland. The kitchen is well-appointed and has everything you need to make a hearty meal, but there are plenty of nearby villages with pubs offering home cooked meals to tempt you out for the evening.
Two bedrooms are found to the first floor, the double bedroom again has beams to the ceiling, a feature fireplace and an appealing aspect looking over the village green, the twin room also enjoys rural views. Outside to the rear, is a paved patio area, with table and seating for al fresco dining or that morning coffee, along with well presented planted borders, where you can enjoy lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
Nights are dark, with clear skies that will excite the star gazers amongst you. During the day there are numerous walks right from the doorstep, the quieter Northern Fells are popular with walkers, yet a day trip to Keswick, Cockermouth and the historic city of Carlisle are all just a short car journey away.
The famous Hadrian’s Wall, as well as Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders and the Yorkshire Dales are worth a visit too. You will find lengthy sandy beaches along the Solway coast which are perfect to walk your four legged friend, and worth going at dusk to catch some amazing sunsets over the Solway Firth.
