Visit the Beatrix Potter museum, or take a leisurely cruise on Lake Windermere.

It is just a short drive to the towns of Windermere, Grasmere and Ambleside; visit Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, explore Grizedale Forest with its Go Ape high wire adventure course, or take the ferry over to Hawkshead and visit Hilltop Farm near Sawrey where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her stories. Haverthwaite Steam Railway, Sizergh Castle, Holker Hall and Levens Hall are all within easy reach.
