There are regular boat trips over to Ambleside and Lakeside, the latter of which is home to the Lakes Aquarium. From here you can take a steam train along the Lakeside-Haverthwaite railway route. Bowness is a tourist hotspot and the largest resort on the lake, but it has lost none of its cosy Lakeland charm. The bustling streets in the centre of the town are lined with gift shops, independent cafés, bars, restaurants and many great tourist attractions.
