Whitelea Cottage
3 bedrooms, sleeps 5
Light, bright and welcoming Whitelea’s beautiful view of the countryside will entice families and couples to explore the local walks and attractions.
Whitelea was lovingly restored by the owner’s parents to a very good standard. Some of the features like the beautiful stained glass window were made by their father, other artwork has been created by members of the family. Cosy bright contemporary furnishings enhance the quirky interior. Sit back and relax as you watch the changing landscape through the picture window. Share a meal together around the table in the spacious dining room or, weather permitting, dine ’al fresco’ in the terraced garden whilst drinking in the view. Individually designed bedrooms offer yet more views, comfortable beds and stylish furnishings.
Nestled in the ancient village of Trawden on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border this semi-detached property offers many local walks and activities.
Children will enjoy farm parks at Thornton Hall Country Park or Hesketh Farm Park at Bolton Abbey or more locally down the road at Ball Grove children’s play area, lake and café. Ramble up Boulsworth hill or across the rolling fields to the hamlet of Wycoller. Cycle the ’Tour de Yorkshire’ route around Haworth and Hebden Bridge or mountain bike in Gisburn Forest and the Trough of Bowland. Drive north to Grassington and Malham, east to Halifax and Holmfirth, west across to the coast for Blackpool and Morcambe or by motorway south to Manchester. Take a train ride from Oxenhope to Keighley, on the Worth Valley Railway or visit Bolton Abbey via the steam railway from Embsay.
Cruise on a canal boat from Hebden Bridge, Foulridge or Skipton for a leisurely outing through the countryside. Take time to visit the local towns of Colne, Barnoldswick, Skipton and Clitheroe where you will find independent shops and restaurants as well as supermarkets. The nearest local shop is 1 ½ miles away and you can drink or dine at the pub in the village (restricted opening times). If you still have plenty of energy left why not try the shopping experiences at Boundary Mill or Pendle Village, take afternoon tea at one of the many tea rooms or explore further into the history of Newchurch-in-Pendle and the Pendle witches. Shop 1½ mile, pub ¼ mile, restaurant 2 miles.
