If you’re a couple or a family looking for a quality property close to the town centre, then this property is ideal. The town centre is just over half a mile away, so you can leave the car behind and explore on foot. Cockermouth has a great selection of dining choices within a fifteen minute walk, including gastro pubs, Italian bistros, independent coffee shops and fast food, there’s so much choice you may decide not to cook at all and save on washing up!
There are great walks along the river which prove very popular with tourists and locals alike, or you could take a swim at the local leisure pool, only a mile away. You can visit Wordsworth House, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, just over half a mile away, then feed the ducks in the memorial gardens. Still within a mile, you’ll reach Kirkgate Arts, if you fancy taking in some performing arts on your holiday. Nestled beneath the castle walls and also only a mile from your base, is the famous Jennings Brewery, offering tours, tastings and bottled beers to take away.
Being surrounded on three sides by The Lake District National Park means you get the best of both worlds.
Choose between the mountainous scenery of The Lakes or the sandy beaches of the west Cumbrian coastline. A short car journey means you can reach Bassenthwaite Lake within 5 miles, a picturesque lake with a stunning backdrop of the iconic Skiddaw, one of the highest mountains in England, offering fantastic walking and cycle routes as well as an osprey viewpoint. Bassenthwaite is also home to The Lake District Wildlife Park offering a fun day out, and The Lakes Distillery with good food and tasting tours, both only 6 miles away. You’re also only around 10 miles from the western coast of Cumbria with sandy beaches and miles of cycle track. The popular town of Keswick can be reached by car in about 20 minutes. For walkers and cycling enthusiasts, you’ll love Whinlatter Forest Park or you could continue down the valley to Buttermere for stunning panoramic scenery. Beach 11 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
