This beautiful 18th century, grade II listed cottage features beamed ceilings, slate floors and plenty of character but with modern bathrooms and appliances, making it ideal for a family break or perfect for couples thanks to the additional bathroom. Upstairs you’ll find a spacious master bedroom with kingsize bed, a well-appointed twin room and a modern shower room. Downstairs you have a separate living room with plenty of easy seating and a wood burner for those cosy nights in front of the fire, which is a great space to spend time with your family and friends.

The combined kitchen and dining room features high quality appliances suitable for preparing a family feast and a large table which ideal for board games or a jigsaw with a glass of wine. You also have an additional bathroom with shower over the bath which gives you good flexibility if you have two couples.
Foxdown provides a comfortable base from which to explore the popular local countryside of The Lake District National Park. Situated in The Vale of Lorton, which runs from Cockermouth down to Crummock Water and Buttermere, this quaint village has a little shop only ¼ mile away and an excellent village pub and restaurant 1 mile, which can be accessed on foot in approximately 20 minutes.

You have easy access to the towns of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth and Keswick, with its abundance of pubs, restaurants and shopping experiences. High Lorton is very popular with walkers and cyclists thanks to its easy access to some amazing walks and cycle routes including the Whinlatter Visitor Centre, 4 miles. With free access to England’s only true mountain forest, rising 1000ft above sea level, it provides a range of activities for all ages from forest mountain trails to the high rope adventure course, Go Ape. You can hire bikes or visit the café, it makes a great day out for all ages. Beach 14 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mil
