The Artists House is aptly named as it belongs to a local artist who has displayed a number of pieces throughout the property to give it an authentic feel and a unique interior design. A lot of thought has gone into this holiday cottage ensuring a comfortable stay. If you’re a couple or a family looking for a relaxing break with the convenience of the town centre location, then this property is the one for you. On the ground floor you’ll find a cosy living room with a wood burner, perfect for a cosy night in front of the fire watching a movie after a long day on the fells. The decked area with garden furniture is great for soaking up the warmth and the patio is west-facing, meaning you’ll benefit from the sun in the afternoon and early evening.
Regular visitors to Cockermouth will know all about its vibrant town centre and its abundance of fantastic eateries including gastro pubs, Italian bistros, independent coffee shops and fast food restaurants, as well as pubs serving locally produced cask ales and fine food. There’s so much choice that you might decide to save on washing up and not cook at all! There are great walks along the river which prove very popular with tourists and locals. You can visit nearby attraction Wordsworth House, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, then feed the ducks in the memorial gardens, or Kirkgate Arts if you fancy experiencing some performing arts on your holiday. Nestled beneath the Cockermouth Castle walls you’ll find the famous Jennings Brewery offering tastings tours and bottled beers to take away.

Choose between the mountainous scenery of The Lakes or the sandy beaches of the West Cumbrian coastline. Bassenthwaite Lake, a picturesque lake with a stunning backdrop of the iconic Skiddaw, one of the highest mountains in England, is only a short 5 mile car journey away. The area offers fantastic walking and cycle routes as well as an osprey viewpoint. Bassenthwaite is also home to The Lake District Wildlife Park providing a fun day out. The popular town of Keswick is 14 miles away and can be reached by car in about 20 minutes. Whinlatter Forest Park is well-loved by walkers and cyclists or further down the valley Buttermere has stunning panoramic scenery. This gem of a property is ideal for your next Cumbrian getaway.
