The Hawthorns is a real find. This stunning, semi-detached bungalow, attached to the owner’s home, offers much more than you would expect from your typical Lake District holiday cottage. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the amount of space you have, closely followed by the amazing panoramic views over Bassenthwaite Lake and the surrounding Fells. From the oversized window in the living room, the views are simply stunning and you could spend hours gazing at the sheer beauty that unfolds before you. With the rolling hills and the changing colours of the seasons, you will not be disappointed. Just opposite, guests have access to a garden and orchard, with beautifully kept gardens and a seating area, which is a perfect place in which to enjoy views up and down the valley in the afternoon sun and later on, spectacular sunsets.
All on one level and sleeping just two people in a double bedroom, this property is perfect for couples.
It boasts a very comfortable and spacious living room and separate dining room. A large, well-equipped kitchen leads to a conservatory which overlooks a tiered garden at the rear. The whole property is furnished to a very high standard throughout, and care has being taken to ensure the utmost levels of comfort for guests.
Situated on the lower slopes of Skiddaw, The Hawthorns offers plenty of opportunities to walk or cycle directly from the property, with the walks of Ullock Pike and Skiddaw starting through a gate in the rear garden. You can also walk to Bassenthwaite Lake, which is under a mile following a public right of way, as well as reach the village pub located in the village of Bassenthwaite. If you want to leave the car or bikes behind, the owners of the cottage provide private parking and bike storage.
You can easily explore on foot, or indeed use the public transport with a bus stop directly outside.
The popular town of Keswick is just 5 miles away on the shores of Derwent Water, which offers an abundance of shopping and dining experiences, as well as a variety of cultural hotspots and tourist attractions, including the Derwent Pencil Museum, the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick Convention Centre and Keswick Museum and Art Gallery. This property offers guests a relaxing stay and a fantastic base from which to explore the Lake District National Park. Beach 18 miles. Shop ¾ mile, pub 1½ miles and restaurant ¾ mile.
