Cowper Cottage is set around a courtyard of properties all converted from old steading buildings or byres in the small hamlet of New Cowper, which originally comes from the old English ’cu-byre’, meaning a cow byre or cowshed, hence New Cowper means a new cowshed. This semi-detached property is ideal for couples and families. On the ground floor there is a bedroom and bathroom, and upstairs is the living room with its wooden floor, exposed beams and a wood burner which you can enjoy on winter evenings. The kitchen is modern and well equipped.
Whilst at Cowper Cottage, guests can book private use of the owner’s indoor swimming pool. It is very popular, so remember to book your slot.
Cowper Cottage is in a peaceful, rural corner of the western Lake District, yet only a short drive to the coast and its delightful beaches. Take a drive to Allonby, a thriving little seaside village with miles of beach to walk. For the more energetic, try your hand at kite surfing! Explore the larger towns like Keswick, a pretty market town in the Lake District National Park and one of the main centres of outdoor activities in the UK.
Cockermouth, another bustling market town on the edge of the National Park, is famous as the birthplace of William Wordsworth and the house where he was born is certainly worth a visit. Cowper Cottage welcomes not only you but your dog too, and you will be spoilt for choice whether to walk your dog along the beach or up one of the many fells close by. Beach 3¼ miles.
