Cowper Cottage is set around a courtyard of properties all converted from old steading buildings or byres in the small hamlet of New Cowper, which originally comes from the old English ’cu-byre’, meaning a cow byre or cowshed, hence New Cowper means a new cowshed. This semi-detached property is ideal for couples and families. On the ground floor there is a bedroom and bathroom, and upstairs is the living room with its wooden floor, exposed beams and a wood burner which you can enjoy on winter evenings. The kitchen is modern and well equipped.
Whilst at Cowper Cottage, guests can book private use of the owner’s indoor swimming pool. It is very popular, so remember to book your slot.
Cowper Cottage is in a peaceful, rural corner of the western Lake District, yet only a short drive to the coast and its delightful beaches. Explore the larger towns like Keswick, a pretty market town in the Lake District National Park and one of the main centres of outdoor activities in the UK.
Cockermouth, another bustling market town on the edge of the National Park, is famous as the birthplace of William Wordsworth and the house where he was born is certainly worth a visit.
