Whitehaven’s harbour is home to The Beacon Museum with interactive displays. You can tour The Rum Story attraction and find out all about the history of The Jefferson family from the original 1785 shop. The town also has an indoor public swimming pool, gym, sports centre and golf course. A visit wouldn’t be complete without going to St Bees Head and the long sandy beaches.
The Lake District National Park is a 5-mile drive away, where you have an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains and lakes. Ennerdale is 6 miles away and is widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District, teeming with wildlife including indigenous red squirrels, osprey and buzzards. The scenery around this unspoilt part of The Lakes is stunning and the panoramic views are a sight to behold.
