Dorothy’s cottage is a beautiful red brick cottage in the historic seaside resort of Bexhill-on-Sea. Over a hundred years old, the cottage has period features, and gardens to the front and back.
Nestling between the bustling resorts of Eastbourne and Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea is surrounded by magnificent countryside and coastline.
The town lies close to The South Downs, Britain’s newest National Park and an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The South Downs offer walkers spectacular views of the coast along the South Downs Way.
East Sussex is very popular visitors, with many historic villages and towns to explore. Local attractions include Bexhill Museum, Manor Barn Gardens, Battle Abbey, Firle Place, Lewes Castle, Michelham Priory, Beachey Head, Drusillas Zoo Park (a popular family attraction), and Charleston Farm House (the country retreat of the Bloomsbury Group).
The area also offers opportunities for cycling, boating, fishing, golf, swimming, sailing, and riding.
Dorothy's Cottage is an semi-detached cottage built in 1871. It has a spacious lounge, with adjoining study, a separate dining room, a modern kitchen, a sun room/breakfast room and a toilet downstairs.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single and a family bathroom.
Outside is a large cottage garden with children's outdoor play equipment.
There is space for 2 cars to park on the drive at the front of the property.
Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity. Saturday is the preferred changeover day, but other days out of peak season can be arranged. 3pm check in 10 am check out. Weekend/short breaks can be arranged, with a 3 night minimum stay. There is a small additional charge for pets.
From Bexhill, the cottage can be found by following the A259 to Little Common and turning south at the roundabout along Cooden Sea Road.
Following this road, take the second left (Birkdale) and continue down this road for approximately 1/2 a mile before turning left into Collington Rise. Travel up Collington Rise to the top and then bear right into The Grove. Dorothy's Cottage can be found at the end of the cul-de-sac down the gravel track.
