Robins Nest Cottage
3 bedrooms, sleeps 6

Very comfortable accommodation, close to Canterbury, local attractions, beaches and dog walking, and a 14th-century inn within minutes’ walk. What’s not to like?. The small village of Westbere is a preservation area, and Robin’s Nest is within a 5-minute stroll of the oldest pub in Kent, built in 1348 and where Queen Anne, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the highwayman Dick Turpin are reputed to have stayed. Today, you can enjoy one of the UKs 50 best Sunday lunches, and during the summer months you may be lucky enough to see a performance from the local morris dancers.
Robin’s Nest provides well-thought-out accommodation for couples or families and has been refurbished throughout in 2018 to make your stay a most comfortable one. It benefits from an enclosed garden for you and your four-legged friends, as well as a garage for bike and equipment storage, and boasts a wood burning stove where you can toast your toes in the winter months.

Whether it’s city, coast or countryside you’re after, Robin’s Nest is a great base from which to explore much that Kent has to offer. The historic city of Canterbury is just 4 miles away. A boat or punt on the River Stour is a wonderful way to see the sights and learn of the city’s history. The cathedral dates back to the 11th century and contains over 1,200 square metres of beautiful stained glass. A guided tour of this remarkable city will ensure you don’t miss a thing! You don’t have to go far in Canterbury to find delightful places to eat and if a spot of retail therapy is needed, you won’t be disappointed. The coast can be reached in well under half an hour.

Herne Bay is 7½ miles, a splendid Victorian seaside resort complete with bandstand. Take a boat to explore the coast and go searching for the seal colonies. The seaside town of Whitstable, known as the Pearl of Kent, has an Oyster Festival in July not to be missed. The nature lover is catered for at Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve which lies in the Great Stour Valley and adjoins Westbere Lakes, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Sample the award-winning wines of the area at Barnsole Vineyard and take a look at Richborough Roman Fort where the Pinot Noir vines originally arrived in 44 AD. Howletts Wild Animal Park and Goodnestone Gardens make for great days out. There are good rail connections to London from Canterbury for further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 7½ miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
