Overlooking orchards, it has now been thoughtfully renovated retaining many features. Battle and 1066 country are a short drive, with a wealth of historical sites, castles and stately homes. The village of Iden, in the Domesday Book, is close to the Royal Military Canal, ideal for a gentle stroll or fishing. Just a short drive from Rye and Rye harbour, renowned for bird-watching. Tenterden, 6½ miles, is known as ‘The Jewel of the Weald’. Camber and miles of golden sand 4½ miles. The tunnel for trips to France is a 45-minute drive. Horse riding nearby. Shop/PO and pub with food ⅓ mile.
