Longbridge House was originally a 19th Century Coaching House which has been lovingly restored to create a perfect venue for larger parties as it can sleep up to 24. Situated in East Devon the coastline, from Exmouth, to the border with Dorset, is part of the ‘Jurassic Coast’ one of the UK’s World Heritage site. There is so much to do in the surrounding area from the stunning beaches along the coast where you can enjoy a variety of watersports or simply just enjoy beachside views and local wildlife.
There are numerous golf courses close by and for the more adventurous amongst you, rally driving and clay pigeon shooting are all available making this an ideal venue for a stag weekend.
For those organising a hen weekend, beauty treatments can be arranged during your stay to make it all that bit more special!
Families will also love this part of Devon. If you manage to drag yourself away from Longbridge House, you can try out the highly successful Go Ape which is great for adults and children alike. You might also like to make time to visit the Lyme Regis Fossil Museum where you can learn all sorts of interesting facts about fossils and rocks. Another local attraction, Pebblebed Vineyard, is also worth a visit for adults. The rose and white wines have won many awards over the years and the vineyard hold tastings and tours, definitely one not to miss.
Should you just want to potter around, the villages of Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Beer and Sidmouth & Otterton are all a short drive away where you will find a variety of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.
It’s not a typical holiday property as you can also take advantage of the indoor heated pool and games room where you can play pool and many other games. So if the weather is bad, it really won’t matter. There is so much to do in the surrounding area and equally at Longbridge House that one week may not be long enoug
Longbridge House is in a beautiful peaceful country location located at the foot of the Yarty Valley, with grounds that border the Yarty River. There is an abundance of wildlife with trout and kingfishers regularly being seen. The property has a wealth of period features with stone floors downstairs, oak doors and window seats. The house is centrally heated throughout and there is also a woodburner, and number of inglenook fireplaces. Downstairs there are four reception rooms so plenty of space for everyone, from the large dining room, Morning Room, Drawing Room/Games room, and the very cosy Snug. The Farmhouse Kitchen has all the equipment that you would want on a self catering holiday from twin fridges, freezer, dishwasher, double electric oven, and a 4 oven Aga where no doubt everyone will hover by as they really are the heart of a home! There are doors leading out to the kitchen garden. There is boot room as you enter the house so all the coats and boots can be neatly tucked away. Additionally, the utility room has a washing machine & tumble dryer, sink area, wall cupboards and WC with wash-basin.
In the drawing room/games room you will find Large leather sofas, a pool table, table football and a CD/Radio. The snug is a very cosy room, with a window seat, large inglenook fireplace with woodburner. Large comfy sofas, television make this the perfect room to relax in. For those wanting a bit of peace and quiet, the morning room captures all the morning sun and overlooks the enclosed rear garden. It also has a large Inglenook fireplace and again large comfy sofas. The large dining room has a large dining table and chairs with beautiful stone floor and doors leading out to the kitchen garden. In addition the downstairs shower room is fully tiled with a WC, wash-basin and shower cubicle. This room also acts as a changing room for the swimming pool.
There are a total of 7 bedrooms all of which are en suite and spacious. Bedroom 1 and Bedroom 8 essentially work together. The Master Bedroom has triple aspect views, a dressing room and en suite bathroom with whirlpool bath, WC, wash-basin, and bidet. In the master bedroom there is a King size bed and single bed and television. At the end of the dressing room there is an additional bunk bed room so perfect for families with children. Bedroom 2 has both a double bed + single bed, dual aspect views over the river. Once again it has an ensuite bathroom. Bedroom 3 is packed full of character with views over the river which you can enjoy from the window seat. It has a double bed, + single bed, whirlpool bath, WC, wash-basin, television.
Another bedroom with river views, is bedroom 4 which can either be made up as a double or a twin room. It has a window seat, television, wood panelling, and a huge bathroom, with bath, WC, wash-basin. Bedroom 5 is a twin bedroom overlooking the rear garden and hills beyond with ensuite with bath, WC and wash-basin, television. Bedroom 6 is next to bedroom 5 and is a twin bedroom with again an ensuite. Lastly, Bedroom 7 is another twin bedded room, with en suite, bath, WC, wash-basin.
Don’t forget that during your stay at Longbridge you have use of the indoor pool and the Games room so you don’t need to move if you don’t want to!
Electricity and heating are included in the price. Bed linen and towels are provided. Changeover days are Friday. Arrival is after 4pm and departure is before 10am.
