Atworthy Cross Cottage is the perfect property if you are looking for a handy location for exploring both North Devon and the North Cornwall coastline. Dartmoor National Park is a similar distance to the south as Exmoor National Park is to the north east and can be reached in an hour. The property has a traditional country feel while providing all the modern amenities you could want for a home from home getaway. The cottage comprises 4 bedrooms, one with en-suite, along with a family bathroom. The main living room has a Smart TV, cosy wood burner and Bi-fold doors leading out to the garden. The kitchen has a central island and is open plan with the conservatory style dining room. Fancy some quiet time or even an area to do some work? Then the sitting room has a second wood burner and desk with computer monitor for your use. Take a wander outside and enjoy the 4-acre woodland and 2-acre paddock and feel at one with nature. Plenty of wildlife, including, if you’re lucky, deer families can be appreciated in the paddock (so please keep dogs under control at all times) and the barn owl that lives next door.
There is plenty of outdoor space surrounding the cottage, with lawn, flower gardens, outdoor seating and dining areas.
Atworthy Cross Cottage is less than 2 miles from Bradworthy village, with its lovely village square, shops and friendly pub, just a half hour walk away down quiet lanes. There is another popular pub just a few miles away at Woolfardisworthy, with its excellent fish and chip shop attached. The Tamar Lakes with its activity centre and fishing is approximately 4 miles away. Take a trip to the stunning coast at Hartland, where many ships have been wrecked. It is 12 miles from Bude with several beaches including Sandymouth Bay and just 14 miles from the port town of Bideford which sits on the Torridge estuary. Bideford offers all the amenities of a major town including supermarkets, pannier market, park, eateries, pubs and tea rooms. There is also a popular outlet shopping centre for a spot of retail therapy.
North Devon is famed for its fantastic natural attractions such as Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’, and the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village.
If stunning beaches are your thing then the region will leave you spoilt for choice with Bude, Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho! Beaches. The South West Coastal Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers offering 90 miles of stunning walks. For a day with a difference, take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. This entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and trips regularly depart from Bideford. Further afield is the Eden Project, great for a day trip. Return after a busy day to enjoy the tranquillity of Atworthy Cross Cottage with all its charm
