Riverside House is a lovely 18th-century thatched house in an idyllic, tranquil setting on the banks of the tidal River Dart.
Riverside House has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard, and is perfect for a family holiday or for friends to get together especially for a special celebration. On the ground floor there is a well-equipped kitchen, overlooking the river. The large living room has a wood burner, an old Victorian piano, TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs and lots of games. There are three double bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms on the first floor, and on the second floor one which shares a shower room with the fourth bedroom. This room has twin beds and a set of bunk beds and lots of toys and children’s books. Two of the double bedrooms also have balconies overlooking the river. The tranquil garden is an ideal setting to relax in whilst you watch the ducks and boats go by. If you wish you can breakfast here in the sun for a romantic start to the day.
There is not only garden furniture and a barbecue, but a slipway down to the River Dart, so don’t forget to bring your own canoes or dinghies or rent locally.
This 18th-century thatched house is an ideal place to unwind and just sit and watch the wildlife. There are some lovely walks along the river from the house which is on the Dart Valley Trail. Tuckenhay is a tiny village, but boasts two good pubs, both of them on the river. The nearest pub is noted for its superb sea food, and there are barbecues on the quay in the summer. The ancient town of Totnes is 10 minutes away, and Dittisham, Dartmouth and Salcombe are all within a half-hour drive. Also within easy reach is the South West Coast Path and Dartmoor for walking or riding, and many splendid beaches.
With the superb beach at Blackpool Sands a 20-minute drive away, and the surfing beach at Bantham a 30-minute drive, as well as some of the best natural beaches to be found anywhere in the UK. The National Trust properties of Greenway and Coleton Fishacre are nearby. There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding. Riverside House is ideally placed for events in or near Dartington Hall, Sharpham House, Totnes, Dartmouth and the River Dart.
