Extra Amenities

Close to the Forest of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, just 3 miles from Hebden Bridge, Rough Top Cottage was originally a farmer’s cottage and barn, and is now extended to be a wonderful, semi-detached, countryside retreat full of character and charm. Having been with the family for several years renovations have been gradually completed over time, keeping the traditional style of a 17th-century farmhouse with original features, such as 2ft thick walls, beamed ceilings, low doorways and an open fire, but without losing the needs of a modern day family home.
The property is very dog friendly, allowing two well-behaved dogs at no extra charge, with more by negotiation. The private garden has been made as dog friendly as possible and allows you to sit out whilst your dogs play. A doggy welcome pack is supplied with their own gift ’chews’ and use of essentials should you forget anything such as leads, throws, bowls and towels.

The property even has an outdoor hose with shower head to wash down your dogs, should they be muddy after a walk. Should you be planning a day out where it would not be convenient to take your pooch, there are wonderful registered dog kennels within a short walk away who do great doggy day care. There are also wonderful walks from the door and a network of bridle and footpaths to take you across our vast Yorkshire moors.
Ideal for those wanting to get away from it all, Rough Top Cottage is situated in a quiet hilltop area with stunning panoramic views and plenty of walks and cycle routes for all abilities. Within easy walking distance is Bridestone’s Rocks, a popular haunt for climbers and scramblers, and if you’re interested in venturing off the hillside, just 10 minutes away is the vibrant and artistic town of Hebden Bridge.

Well served with cafes, restaurants, inns, boutiques, galleries and gift shops, Hebden Bridge has something for everyone. Haworth village is a major tourist attraction in the area being home of the Bronte sisters, can be reached in around 30 minutes, and the National Trust Hardcastle Craggs with more than 400 acres of unspoilt woodland in around 20 minutes. A 35 minute train journey from Todmorden will take you direct to Manchester city centre, as well as being within easy distance for a day out in Leeds, Harrogate, Skipton, Blackpool or the Peak District National Park. Shop 2 miles, pubs and restaurants 4 miles.
