The Arches Cottage
3 bedrooms, sleeps 6

Nestled within the peace and tranquillity of the pretty village of Muker in Swaledale, perfect for families who enjoy walking and cycling in beautiful countryside.

With hillside views from its distinctive windows, The Arches is a remarkable 17th-century hay barn and forge converted into a spacious and comfortable family-sized cottage with exposed beams and an open fire. Nestled at the foot of Kisdon Hill, on the route of both the 2014 Tour de Yorkshire, and The Swale Trail for mountain bikes. If you are bringing your own bicycle, lockable bike storage is available at the property.

The tiny village of Muker is the walking and cycling centre of wild and rugged upper Swaledale - Wainwright’s favourite Dale and where the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast walks cross. The traditional village pub serving excellent food, a tea shop and village store are all just yards away. The traditionally-farmed local hay meadows are famed for their wild flowers. A wealth of varied hiking and wild swimming is on your doorstep, with destinations including the evocatively named Swinner Gill, Kisdon Force, Oxnop Gap, Rogans Seat and Great Shunner Fell, or for a gentle stroll, the sublime Ivelet Bridge.

The market towns of Richmond, Leyburn and Hawes and attractions including the famous Aysgarth Falls, The Bowes Museum and Bolton Castle are all within a short, glorious drive away. Shop and pub 50 yards, restaurant 9 miles.
