Extra Amenities

Within the heart of Scarborough’s Old Town, this quaint little terraced cottage is a perfect holiday home, just a short walk to the beach and town centre. Originally home to the seafaring community, the Old Town comprises lots of fishermen’s cottages in quirky cobbled back streets and alleyways that lead down to South Bay.
The castle stands on the hillside overlooking the Old Town and St Mary’s Church, the burial site of the literary icon, Anne Brontë. Just a short stroll from the cottage is Scarborough’s market hall, which sells everything from fruit and vegetables to meats and pastries, as well as housing various craft and antique stalls.

The cottage is perfectly situated for days down on the beach or taking an easy walk into town for the evening. There are plenty of bars and very good restaurants, as well as the famous Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Alan Ayckbourn’s premieres. Scarborough’s open air theatre is the largest in Europe and attracts famous international acts throughout the summer, whilst The Spa has live entrtainment on most weekends. You can also watch county cricket at its best during the cricket festival. On the seafront you can walk from South Bay to North Bay along a wonderful flat marina looking out to sea - the perfect place for a leisurely walk with or without a pet.

If you want a longer walk, the Cleveland Way starts in the North Bay heading north to Whitby and in the South Bay heading south towards Filey.
A little further afield is the city of York, which can be reached in about an hour by car, or there is a direct train from Scarborough. Steeped in history, its makes a great day out, with its ancient city walls and majestic minster overlooking the city. Beach 500 yards. Shop and restaurant 440 yards, pub 330 yard
