This third floor apartment is just on the edge of the town, in a popular area for holiday lets, due to its close proximity to the many attractions Whitby has to offer. The penthouse of a traditional terraced town house, Cook’s Cabin is up in the heavens, providing a peaceful retreat from the rest of the world.
Bright and welcoming with Velux windows throughout, and thoughtful personal touches ensuring a comfortable stay. You will find a small kitchen under the eaves, ready for making indulgent breakfasts to start your mornings, or romantic evening meals for just the two of you.
Cook’s Cabin is named after Captain James Cook, who sailed from Whitby on his voyages of discovery, navigating across to the other side of the world to find Australia, Hawaii and many other islands.
This was an incredible feat, as he sailed further than anyone had ever dared to go before. There is a museum, as well as an exhibition of a life-sized replica ship, and a statue overlooking the town, all for James Cook.
The town is immensely proud of its seafaring heritage, with legends of vikings, smugglers and heroic life boat rescues. You can still savour the freshly caught fish and seafood in a selection of award-winning restaurants. You will be spoilt for choice with the upmarket harbour-front dining, of lobster or mussels, as well as the true favourite of fluffy cod or haddock battered fish, with chips. You can also hop on board a boat out of the harbour, for a day trip bouncing over the waves of the bracing North Sea.
Take in the fresh sea air with a walk down the pier, watch the sunset and see what inspires so many photographers, artists and writers.
There’s something about Whitby that fills your soul - the views, the atmosphere, the history and the heritage. The iconic abbey is ever watchful over the rooftops of the buildings clustered around the harbour below, stretches of golden beaches and the surrounding remote North York Moors. This is a destination for explorers, photographers and walkers.
A great choice for couples, either for a first visit to Whitby or for a returning stay. The owner has taken great care to decorate and furnish the property with your enjoyment in mind, ensuring that you have a bright and welcoming stay no matter what the season. Beach 1 mile.
