Extra Amenities

The Porthole House is perfectly situated on the edge of town, just a short walk from both the Cinder Track and the town centre of Whitby. This delightful, detached house boasts a private parking space on the drive at the front and a garden at the rear. Once inside there is a comfortable open plan kitchen/dining and living area where friends and family alike can enjoy the Smart TV and bluetooth speaker system. The master bedroom is upstairs passing the wonderful views seen through the porthole down towards the sea and has plenty of space and an en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet. There is a downstairs twin bedroom which is right next door to the downstairs shower room.
This dog friendly house is just 100 yards from the famous Cinder Track which is perfect for cycling and walking. The Cinder Track is an old disused railway line that stretches from Whitby to Scarborough and runs alongside parts of the Cleveland Way.

This is a great way to stroll down into the famous Robin Hoods Bay with its breath-taking views and is joined via a very pretty viaduct which sits above the River Esk. Walk down into the bustling fishing town of Whitby just 10 minutes away, and under the towering Abbey, you will find yourself immersed in history as you wander through the cobbled back streets with its myriad of shops – old and new. Keep an eye on the calendar for one of the many events and festivals that take place all year round; from Goth Weekenders to Whitby Regatta, Music Festivals to Steam Punks and Scooters there is something for everyone. Whitby has 2½ miles of sandy beach including dog designated areas and many of the pubs, coffee shops, tearooms and restaurants cater for our furry friends.

The Yorkshire coastline is perfect for exploring and there are a number of hidden coves and bays dotted along the coast, each with its own special history from Captain Cook to Dracula. There are many photo opportunities in places such as the sought-after Sandsend, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay, all a short drive away.
Head inland to sample some of the best countryside in the UK. Whether you take a drive or jump on the Harry Potter Express which steams its way through the spectacular scenery to Goathland (Aidensfield in the TV series Heartbeat). The Victorian seaside resort of Scarborough is just down the coast and has many attractions from a waterpark, an open air theatre with many international acts and bands, Peasholm Park and the Sealife Centre. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile
