Dog friendly holiday

Pet Friendly holiday cottages

In choosing to holiday in the UK you have an option available to you that is not possible when you go overseas - you can bring your pet! Not every holiday cottage or house allows pets but there is a wide choice of properties that do. Most dog owners love nothing better than to get outdoors and taking a walk with the pooch! Most holiday cottages that welcome well behaved pets will simply ask that dogs are not allowed on the furniture or in the bedrooms, and that dogs should not be left unattended in the property for any length of time. A family holiday would not be the same without the dogs, and for many people they spend more time with their animals when on holiday and away from work.

Dogs welcome at self-catering holiday homes

Dog owners love enjoying holidays with their 'complete family' - and dogs are a major part of the decision of where to go. The cost and trauma of putting your dog in a kennel can put people off, so being able to bring them along is a real bonus! Indeed some people that rent holiday cottages and bring their dogs also use local kennels if they can't look after them one day, or a dog sitting service may be available. For instance if they go on a special day or overnight trip. There are wonderful walks in places such as The Lake District, The South Downs or The Peak District which are particularly suited to challenging long hill walks, but your dog will be happy to be wherever you are. Most self-catering holiday homes that allow pets have owners that have pets and so they understand what it entails. Indeed our experience is that many dogs owners are so keen that their pet doesn't let them down that the property is left spotless! Many pet friendly cottages will have pet friendly facilities, such as dog bowls, a nice warm spot for a bed, an outside hose for a wash and a place to laze in the sun! Some cottages will allow more than one dog, two is fairly usual, but more than three can sometimes demand kennels.
