This charming country village is set close to the stunning Heritage Coast with miles of golden sandy beaches, hidden coves and castles, yet close also to the magnificent Northumberland countryside leading to the National Park, an international Gold Dark Sky Park with glorious scenery. Belford is proud of its strong community spirit with three friendly pubs, some bespoke shops and coffee shops, as well as a very handy supermarket. The Belford Museum hosts exhibitions and the local farm shop at the top of the village has lots of organic produce with a great choice of coffee and ales in the on-site café.
Take a walk to St Cuthbert’s Cave, only a few miles from Belford, where the Lindisfarne, Holy Island monks reputedly took St Cuthbert’s body in AD875 following the Viking raid on Holy Island. Nearby Budle Bay has thousands of waders on the tidal lagoon, a stunning sight looking over to the island. The local bus will take you to the popular coastal villages of Beadnell and Seahouses, with the working harbour and boat trips to the Farne Islands, and Bamburgh with the stunning cliff top castle and one of the most romantic and photographed beaches set behind the castle.
